Wood Carving – How to Choose the Right Style

Wood carving is a special craft. It takes patience to grow the extreme with a fine imagination could. If you opt for a wood carver, you are more styles to choose from. There are five main styles of woodcarving. Each style is very different from the others. These styles are whittling, chipCarving, relief carving, carving and carving in the round depression.

Whittling. Whittling involves the removal of pare shavings or bits of wood with a cutting knife. It is the simplest form of wood carving, but not really the art of wood carving. Relief Carving. This type of carving is made from wood cut on a planecut with images in 3-dimensional fashion. These are the carvings on the walls you see or sit on the tables or surface tops.

There are two types of relief carving. A low relief carving is the visual effect that is created to be recognizable. Carving in the round. This is the most advanced type of wood carving. The product can be from all sides with a full and are displayed simply look at all the details.
